PUNKD

After listening to the All Time Low on repeat for several days, I thought I should take a little break from fashion and create something punk and cool. So I saw this t-shirt that other day with an awesome  mo-hawk skull, and I thought why  not make my very own version of it.

And then I thought of converting my Punk guy into a pattern for wrapping paper. So what do you think?

ALEXANDER WANG for H&M

                                                 Pencil sketch and watercolor

The moment we've all been waiting for is here: Alexander Wang's 61-piece collaboration for H&M is in stores. I've been anxiously awaiting its debut since I first got word of the news — and every glimpse since, including the designer's interactive video with models Joan Smalls, Natasha Poly, Raquel Zimmermann, and Isabeli Fontana has made the long road to the release feel, well, even longer.

BLUE EYES

I saw this amazing face in a Vogue editorial this month and was blown away. I knew I had to sketch those blue eyes and red lips. She was blond but I made her a brunette!

CHANDELIER GIRL

I'm totally obsessed with this song Chandelier by Sia. The video of this song has this beautiful dance by a small girl who is probably 9 or 10 years old. This young amazing dancer totally rocked the  beautiful song, so I decided to sketch her.
Here's the Chandelier Girl!

SHEER TREND FROM SS15 RUNWAY

My favorite sheer numbers from the Spring /Summer '15 runway. Totally loving the sheer lace skirt from D&G and the beautiful sheer yellow top from Naeem Khan.

BALMAIN SS15

ODE TO THE NINETIES

Michael Jackson on the soundtrack and Janet on the catwalk, shaped this monochromatic collection which meant models with slicked back wet hair strutted down the runway in dramatic cut out bandeau tops that were strapped tight to the torso. They also showed up rocking graphic grid patterned high waisted pants and body con dresses that appeared to cadge in each model's curves.

Rousteing is known for his highly structured and richly embellished rock-and-roll designs. And yes, the strong shouldered jackets did make an appearance on the catwalk. This time they came with tricky twisted bodices that left waistlines exposed.
However this season he smartly showed that he could keep his rebellious edge but still propose (slightly) more forgiving garments. One of the best of these was look 9, which paired a draped black t-shirt with a matching semi-sheer pleated maxi skirt.

PRESERVE

U KNOW U LOVE ME..XOXO, GOSSIP GIRL

Have I ever mentioned that I have always been a Blake Lively fan..! I loved her in Gossip Girl and even all her appearances at fashion shows, promotional events and red carpets. I am already in love with her blog/website 'Preserve', since i love baking too.
Anyway, I decided to sketch my girlcrush in a giant (to my eyes) portrait of in A3, which is a size I have never sketched in before, so why not start with gorgeous Blake.

TWO WAYS

                                                          THE NEW CLASSIC

I recently tried out two illustration styles for the same garment to get different effects. First one I did overall shading with shadows and highlights. For the next one I tried the minimalistic approach and highlighted only the outlines and necessary folds to be shown.
I can't choose one, since both looks were fun to sketch.
Which one do you like?

ERDEM FEMINITY

ERDEM AUTUMN/WINTER 13

Erdem AW 13 show had a dramatic, femme-fatale feel to it. It was dark, moody and kinda romantic in the Erdem way. I loved the use of textures, with intricately beaded flowers, sequins and ostrich feathers.
The hair and makeup is my personal take towards this collection to make it softer!

GO ONLINE!

"TAKE ME SHOPPING, AND I'M YOURS"

Watercolor and charcoal on paper.

This post is dedicated to all the Shopaholics like me! Ever since the evolution of shopping into the online market, people are hooked to the internet even more than ever. The booming retail trends emerging in the online market is a treat to those who prefer to sit at home and shop (me again).

Lately it has become an obsession and I see no way out. "I could give up shopping, but I'm not a quitter!"

COUTURE WISH LIST- DIOR

                                     CHRISTIAN DIOR

The show was divided into eight groups, hopping not decades but centuries—for example, from the Marie Antoinette-inspired pannier silhouettes of the opening to astronauts' jumpsuits, back to embroidered court jackets and forward again to twenties volumes. Models from each grouping emerged onto the circular set, a launching pad like something out of a sci-fi flick, with curved walls covered in orchids by the thousands.

Simons' real feat was just how modern it all looked despite its historicism. He achieved that through lightness.

True luxury is spending five or six figures and wearing something not once or twice, but incorporating it into your daily wardrobe.

COUTURE WISH LIST- MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA

This week I'm creating a 'LUST LIST' of the pieces I wish to acquire from the Couture fall 14 runway.
Starting from the surrealist brand Maison Martin Margiela, which I totally love because they have redefined vintage. The house's hive mind has a clear affinity for embroidery samples, 1920s dresses, rich brocades, and of course face effacing masks.
But as fantastical as the Margiela shows can be, they are not just artistic machination on the consumptive nature of fashion. There are wearable pieces to lust after in each show as well.

"It was not the grandeur but the detritus of Couture—the fabric offcuts, the embroidery samples—that the collection celebrated."

PENCIL PORTRAITS

Very old pencil sketches which lay rotting somewhere, were finally discovered by me just before the compilation of my portrait series and I was glad to include them. These were fine practiced sketches made during my rigorous art sessions. Phew! I used to have a lot of patience then since I was not digitally skilled, so everything used to be handmade. I have to admit life is so much easier with technology at our side..

WILD WILD LOVE!

WILD CHILD
The HERMES spring/summer 14 campaign draws inspiration from the collection’s safari influence with a set of images taken in the jungle. Fashion photographer Hans Silvester captures models Diana Moldovan and Yumi Lambert looking in touch with nature amidst a setting of tropical greenery. Beat Bolliger styles the dark-haired beauty in Hermès’ colorful scarves and latest handbag styles.

Acrylic paint and charcoal on paper.

Silvester shoots Lambert as a colorful butterfly or fairy; the model, wrapped in bold prints, crouches down on a mossy rock as a scarf seems to flutter behind her.

WATERCOLOR EXPLORATIONS

My new explorations in watercolor illustrations have yielded new results! These are two new illustrations which are part of a commission. The new technique still needs a few additions I feel. There's no end to learning.. and I personally feel we should never stop searching for new techniques, new medium and all the endless possibilities there are to explore.

WATERCOLOR ILLUSTRATION

I tried this complete watercolor illustration after trying my hand on landscapes (where I failed!). I totally love the texture of a watercolor wash, which is kinda raw and unmade. Landscapes may not be my cup of tea, but illustrations are something I can relate to..

Gonna try a few more looks with different watercolor wash textures..
 Totally in <3 with them!

PORTRAIT SERIES #4

This illustration took some time due to its several colors and as you can see now I'm obsessed with flowers!  This portrait has been on my mind for quite some time, and now I finally got the time to put it on paper. This series will finish in few weeks and one day I hope to put the series on sale..

PORTRAIT SERIES #1

I have been busy these days due to my painting exam so i have not been regular here. But my exam preparations are going really well and today i will share one of the pieces that I have prepared for a series of portraits.
I am not very skilled in pencil shading, but I'm learning each day. And i hope my constant practice would make me a better artist someday.

OLD PENCIL SKETCHES..

After the Holi celebration, which lasted for three days in my house, I finally got back to work (which was really hard)..Later as I was randomly rummaging through my old college stuff, I found these pencil sketches which were part of my college project with the theme- Rapunzel! (as you can guess from the long hair).

So here's Rapunzel in three avatars!!

MY FAVORITE FASHION WEEK PICKS- NEW YORK

                                               BCBG Max Azria

Graphic color-blocking, asymmetric hemlines, and mixed materials were just a few of the label's recognizable tropes in heavy rotation here. There was an emphasis on longer lengths and relaxed silhouettes, with kinetic midi skirts and culottes paired with knee-high boots, which gave the lineup a slight seventies vibe.
The fuzzy stuff—pelts of all types including shearling, fox, raccoon, and rabbit—was featured on everything from statement-making outerwear to playful clutches that doubled as hand warmers.

MY FAVORITE FASHION WEEK PICKS- MILAN

                                DOLCE & GABANNA

"Enchanted Sicily" was the title Dolce & Gabbana gave their collection, but what we saw was actually a timely departure from the overtly folkloric tone of the duo's recent collections. As wonderful as they have been, there was an inevitable sneaking suspicion that the Sicilian vein was nearing the moment when it would be well and truly tapped. Here were ten of the all-black, widow's-weeds-y outfits that established Dolce & Gabbana's fashion signature three decades ago, but they were like breathing spaces in a fantastic riot of fairies, princesses, owls, foxes, squirrels, and swans. There was even a frog for a princess to kiss. All of them were rendered in charmingly naive appliqués. The owls on a blue brocade shift were a particularly memorable combination of ultra-cute and hyper-sophisticated.

RENDERING OSTRICH FEATHERS AND LATEX LEGGINGS

I stumbled upon this amazing tutorial for rendering latex leggings and ostrich feathers using markers of different width and colors. Although I prefer watercolor, but this technique looks worth a try..(I must say there are chances that you might ruin your markers!)
